The HepCom is composed of 12 members. Beside the chairman and a secretary, two positions are reserved for a trainee and an AHP representative. The chairman is the representative on the Council. All members should actively participate in the activities of the HepCom.
Members of the HepCom are required to submit to the chairman a written declaration on potential conflicts of interest once a year. Vacancies within the HepCom will be advertised to all ESPGHAN members 5 months before the term of office commences. Candidates for new members are required to submit an expression of interest and a supporting statement to the chair of the HepCom. All HepCom members will elect the new committee member. Individuals considered to be appointed will be proposed to the council of ESPGHAN by the chair of the HepCom. The chairperson of the HepCom is nominated by the HepCom members and approved by the Council for a period of three years and may stay up to 6 years as all other regular members. The secretary draft minutes of all HepCom activities and prepare the annual report for the council. HepCom members meet usually at least twice yearly - one meeting is held at the annual meeting of ESPGHAN.
