Image of the Month

Images are an important part of much of what we do and learn in medicine. This feature is intended to capture the sense of visual discovery and variety that pediatric gastroenterologist experience during their daily practice during clinical examinations and additional investigations like radiology, endoscopy or pathology.

The aim of the Image of the Month is to present a monthly clinical image and case on the website of the ESPGHAN and on the social media sites of the YOUNG ESPGHAN and ESPGHAN (LinkedIn and Twitter). Only YOUNG ESPGHAN members and/or trainees under supervision of a ESPGHAN member/ senior consultant can apply for the image of the month. We feel that this is an excellent opportunity to promote yourself as a trainee on an international platform using the network of the ESPGHAN.

Trainees who are selected get eternal fame and a certificate. The trainee with the best image of the year gets a free registration for the post graduate course at the Annual ESPGHAN meeting and get a certificate at the closing ceremony of the Annual ESPGHAN meeting.

The image should be illustrative for the clinical case. The next images are allowed: clinical picture of the patient, radiology images (for example CT-scan, MRI-scan, cholangiogram, ERCP, interventional radiology), endoscopy images or pathology images. For the clinical images the patients privacy should be fully respected as per confidentiality arrangements in your country. If photographs of patients are used, they should not be identifiable.

The presentation of clinical case should be maximized at 150 words and should include a short description of the patient's history, relevant physical and laboratory findings, clinical course, response to treatment (if any), and condition at last follow-up. Also a short description of the underlying disease should be provided, including references. Send your proposal of the Image of the Month to
