Master Class in Clinical Parenteral Nutrition
“Parenteral Nutrition in the NICU and PICU – good practice & new insights”

Dear colleagues

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the ESPGHAN Master Class in Clinical Parenteral Nutrition:  “Parenteral Nutrition in the NICU and PICU – good practice & new insights” in the modern city of Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

After the success of the PN Masterclass in Paris (November 2016) the Nutrition Committee of ESPGHAN has decided to continue with organization of focused meetings on Nutrition.

Knowledge about parenteral nutrition (PN) has increased very rapidly in the past decades. Therefore it is a challenge for physicians to stay up-to-date with the latest research and treatment paradigms. The Committee on Nutrition (CoN) of ESPGHAN has compiled a two-day masterclass in order to share state-of-the-art nutritional knowledge and expertise specifically on parenteral nutrition for pediatric and neonatal intensive care patients.

The aim of the course is to gather different specialties treating children requiring PN (pediatric intensivists, neonatologists, pediatricians, nurses and dieticians involved in PICU and NICU care) and discuss various aspects of subscribing and providing PN with a focus on current challenges in daily clinical care. The upcoming ESPGHAN/ESPEN/ESPR guidelines will serve as the basis for the lectures. Clinical cases will also be presented by both the faculty and the participants. Thus, participants will be asked to submit a clinical case prior to the course, and selected cases will be presented and discussed during the course.
The program will run from 2 PM March 14th till 1 PM March 16, 2018.

Looking forward to welcoming you all in Rotterdam.

Koen Joosten
Mary Fewtrell (Chair of Committee on Nutrition)
