ESPGHAN, its sister-societies, its committees and working groups publish and update a range of clinical guidelines and position papers for the treatment of conditions relating to paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. These papers are published in the JPGN and other journals to offer clinicians and healthcare professionals guidance in order to make informed decisions on how to best treat patients. In order to ensure that clinicians receive the most essential information in an easily accessible and quick reference format, ESPGHAN is publishing a range of informative advice guides based on these clinical guidelines and position papers which are available to access and download here.
Advice guide 1: Sugar Intake in Infants, Children and Adolescents
ESPGHAN’s Committee on Nutrition offer advice on sugar intake in infants, children and adolescents. This guide explains what sugar is, current recommendations for sugar intake and outlines the problems of overconsumption that exist. It goes on to explain the taste preference development of children (innate as well as postnatal) and then finally provides recommendations and practical advice on free sugar intake for children as well as the recommended drinks for children of differing ages. It is suitable for sharing with informed patients and parents.
Further advice guides are being developed and will be published on this page in the future.
