Research Grant initiative

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

ESPGHAN is committed to supporting research efforts of its members into all aspects of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. As a society we aim to further our understanding of health and disease within the remit of ESPGHAN ultimately improving the life of children. ESPGHAN members are leaders in their fields many of which are research active. Importantly, supporting basic and translational research within ESPGHAN and encouraging young investigators to develop a research interest are key strategic pillars that the future of ESPGHAN will be built on.  

The Research Committee in close collaboration with Council have revised the ESPGHAN research grant scheme, which aims at supporting basic, translational and clinical research in all areas of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.

We particularly encourage young investigators to apply for these unique funding opportunities.

Specifications:
Up to 5 awards are available. The value of each grant will be up to a maximum of EUR 100.000,00 for a maximum duration of 24 months. 

Amount: up to EUR 100.000,00

ELIGIBILITY

Any ESPGHAN member is eligible to apply.

Focus on Young Investigators
ESPGHAN is committed to support young investigators, particularly those who are showing great promise to develop into leaders in their field. Applications from those individuals is therefore strongly encouraged and will be awarded extra points during the scoring process. This will also be applicable to applicants from lower income countries. 

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

The grant is now open for applications, with a deadline of October 4th, 2023. 

The following documents will be required for application:

a.    Full Application Form (please see point g. below)
b.    CV (2 pages) for main applicant and any key collaborators 
c.    Official letter confirming institutional agreement to hold the grant if awarded
d.    For young investigators: Letter of support from head of institution/department, stating that sufficient protected research time will be ensured
e.    Copies of ethical approval where applicable
f.    List up to 5 key publications relevant to this application 
(for young investigators posters and oral presentations are also acceptable) 
g.    Detailed description of the research project
