Motility Winter School

November 19 - 22, 2025
Amsterdam, The Netherlands

General Information

Building on the great success of the 2022 Motility Winter School in London, we are excited to bring a similar specialized training course to Amsterdam. Gastrointestinal (GI) motility disorders and diagnostic investigations are often underrepresented in pediatric GI training, and access to certain techniques and equipment is limited to a few centers worldwide.

Our Experience: We've previously hosted hands-on motility investigation courses at the ESPGHAN annual meetings in Athens, Vienna, and London which were highly valued by participants. The strong interest and feedback from these courses highlight the need for more in-depth knowledge-sharing in pediatric gastroenterology. This Winter School aims to offer more extensive training than the condensed sessions held during ESPGHAN meetings.

Why Attend? Neurogastroenterology and motility are rapidly evolving fields, with groundbreaking diagnostic tools and technologies emerging in just the past few years. Some of the cutting-edge advancements that will be covered include:

  • EndoFLIP: Now playing a critical role in diagnosing esophageal motility disorders like achalasia and EGJOO.
  • High-resolution impedance-manometry and Swallow gateway:  An innovative online tool transforming the analysis of high-resolution impedance manometry by giving insight into the relation between esophageal motor function and subsequent flow.
  • High-definition anorectal manometry: Offering unprecedented detail on anal-sphincter function. Cine MRI: A non-invasive way to assess both upper and lower intestinal motility.

What to Expect: The program, developed by the expert team from Emma Children’s Hospital – Amsterdam University Medical Center, along with colleagues from leading centers worldwide, promises a high-quality experience. Our curriculum covers the latest knowledge and practical applications in GI motility testing, with hands-on sessions designed to provide real-world experience.

Course Format: The four-day course will offer practical, hands-on sessions on Day 2 and Day 3, allowing participants to directly engage with motility investigations under expert guidance. Join Us This is a unique opportunity to expand your expertise in pediatric motility and neurogastroenterology, guided by leading professionals in the field. Don’t miss out on this chance to elevate your clinical and research skills in this vital area of pediatric gastroenterology.
