Types of ESPGHAN Papers
Societal Papers – Clinical Guidelines
Clinical Guidelines represent official ESPGHAN recommendations and must: Address a high-priority clinical topic in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology or nutrition and meet at least one of the following:
- High disease burden.
- Significant variation in clinical practice.
- Update an existing ESPGHAN guideline (typically >5 years old).
- Address emerging diagnostics, therapies or technologies.
- Fill an important gap in current guidance.
- Be developed using a robust methodology (preferably GRADE).
Non-Societal Papers: Includes Position Papers, Statements, Committee, Special Interest Group (SIG) and Working Group (WG) papers.
These papers:
- Provide expert guidance where evidence may be limited.
- Are developed using standard authorship procedures.
- Are not considered official ESPGHAN Clinical Guidelines.
General Requirements
- All ESPGHAN papers should be submitted to JPGN.
- All authors must complete their Conflict of Interest declarations before approval.
- Clinical Guidelines should follow internationally recognised reporting standards and use a transparent evidence-based methodology
Proposals should be submitted to the ESPGHAN Office by email twice per year, with submission deadlines at the end of May and the end of November
