General Information
This study day will equip independent paediatric colonoscopists involved in teaching and training with the core skills required to deliver high quality colonoscopy training. The core principles learnt can be applied to improve teaching of other endoscopy skills. This will be a very interactive day with small group discussions and model-based learning.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the importance of deconstructing endoscopy skills to facilitate learning and skill acquisition.
- Grasp the concept of "conscious competence" in both performing endoscopy and teaching it effectively.
- Practice practical teaching techniques and explore how these methods can be applied to your own teaching
Context:
- Recognize the need for a structured approach (e.g., set, dialogue, closure) within each teaching session.
- Develop a framework for teaching endoscopy skills, including creating an educational contract and setting SMART objectives.
- Appreciate the role of clear, well-defined instructions and the value of performance-enhancing feedback in endoscopy training.
