General Information
Cystic Fibrosis is a multivisceral disease, that involves lung, gut, and liver, as well as other systems. Since 2012, several CFTR-modulating therapies have been developed targeting the underlying molecular defect. The real-life impact of these drugs is becoming CF into a chronic disease, and its impact on different organs is until now, unknown.
These therapies are transforming CF into a chronic condition; however, their long-term impact on extrapulmonary organs remains incompletely understood.
Cystic fibrosis–related liver disease (CFLD) must be carefully distinguished from other hepatic manifestations that may lack clinical significance. Both the clinical presentation and histological severity of CFLD are highly variable among patients.
This conference provides an opportunity to deepen our understanding of CFLD pathogenesis, current diagnostic and management strategies, and to evaluate the emerging evidence on how CFTR modulators may influence hepatobiliary outcomes in CF.
