6th Liver Transplant School

September 23 - 26, 2026
Hannover, Germany

General Information

The ESPGHAN Paediatric Hepatology Committee will organize the 6th Paediatric Liver Transplantation School in Hannover in September 2026. The ESPGHAN Liver Transplant School is success story. The last schools were visited very well and evaluation by attendees was always very good. The Faculty of the Liver Transplant School 2026 aims to provide many interactive sessions and case discussion. Beside all important aspects around pediatric liver transplantation including surgical and ethical aspects one focus will be the early post- transplant time, since mortality and morbidity at this time is still high, whereas overall outcome improved over the last years.

This meeting should not only attract younger gastroenterologists and hepatologists who have an ambition to develop transplantation programs locally, but also more senior established clinicians who would like to get a state-of-the-art update in an informal setting.

Therefore, we will circulate surveys among the attendees for different transplant care aspects (e.g. vaccination, immunosuppressive protocols) weeks before the school to learn during the school by discussing differences and similarities of the results.

Participants will also gather together in small groups aiming to stimulate discussions among participants. Contact between themselves and with renowned pediatric transplantation medicine specialists will be encouraged also.

This school is supported by the ESPGHAN Education Partner Programme and also funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) – 577205919
